CBD Product FAQs

What is CBD?

Your body has an endocannabinoid system that internally produces it’s own cannabinoids which are responsible for communication within the body to regulate various biological responses. Cannabis plants also produce cannabinoids. There are over 113 cannabinoids produced in cannabis plants and cannabidiol (CBD) is one of them. This plant-derived cannabinoid, mimics the behavior of cannabinoids already preexisting in your body.

Is CBD legal to use?

Yes. The the Industrial Hemp Farm Act of 2018 removed hemp that contains 0.3% or less of THC content from the controlled substance list. Sunset Hills CBD is extracted from hemp that contains 0.3% or less of THC content.

Do you need a medical cannabis card to purchase or use CBD?

No, Sunset Hills CBD is extracted from hemp containing 0.3% or less of THC content, not from marijuana, so a card is not needed.

Is CBD the same as marijuana? What is Hemp?

No, CBD is extracted from Hemp. Hemp and Marijuana are both cannabis plants but they are two different species of cannabis. What is the difference? Hemp is defined as containing less than 1% of THC where as marijuana contains 5%-20% and sometimes even up to 30% THC content.

Can you get “high” from using CBD?

No. THC is the cannabinoid responsible for producing a psychoactive or “high”affect. Sunset Hills CBD is extracted from hemp that contains less than 0.3% of THC and it is not possible to get “high” from such a minute amount.

Will it show up in a drug test?

It depends on the sensitivity of the drug test and what is being tested for. Sunset Hills CBD contains less than 0.3% of THC but if you ingest it on a daily basis it is possible to build enough THC in your system to test positive. It just depends on how sensitive the drug test is. Some companies also test for more cannabinoids other than just THC. For example, I have heard of companies that also test for CBD itself and in that case you would test positive. Know the drug test policies of your employer well and what exactly they test for. Sunset Hills CBD is not responsible for the outcomes and consequences of drug tests.

What is the difference between and full spectrum and isolate CBD?

Full spectrum or full extract means that all cannabinoids are extracted from the plant together. This type of extract is best because the different cannabinoids work together to create a synergistic or entourage effect. All the cannabinoids work better together achieving a greater therapeutic effect. Isolate or pure CBD extract means that purely and solely the CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant. No other cannabinoids, including THC, are extracted. These types of products have ZERO THC and are best for athletes and people in professions that get drug tested for THC regularly.

Can I overdose on CBD?

No. It’s not possible to ingest enough to be harmful and there are no recorded deaths related to CBD.

Can I take CBD if I am pregnant?

Pregnant women should only take isolate or pure CBD products only. Sunset Hills CBD currently does not have an isolate CBD tincture.

How is Sunset Hills CBD extracted from hemp?

Our CBD producer uses ethanol for distillate extraction. Ethanol is safe to work with and efficient in extracting the desired cannabinoids while leaving out the undesirable plant materials. Furthermore, ethanol is classified by the FDA as “GRAS” or Generally Regarded as Safe for human consumption. Ethanol is used as a preservative and additive in foods and beverages.
